Since 1990, Blake Perlingieri is presently the longest practicing Piercer on the globe. Blake began piercing semi-professionally in San Diego in 1988 and professionally in 1990 at San Francisco studio, Body Manipulations; the second piercing studio in the world. In 1993, Blake opened Nomad, the first tribal studio in the industry in San Francisco's Haight District. Nomad revolutionized the piercing industry worldwide by introducing the first-ever production line of organic custom body jewelry for stretched body piercings, and introduced "Freehand" and "Large-Gauge" piercing techniques at educational seminars and digitally. *DVD Available

In 1994, Blake and Nomad were original co-founders of the APP; The Association of Professional Piercers. In 1995 Blake opened Nomad, Australia, the first piercing studio down under. From 1996 to 1998 Blake brought his tribal gospel to the east coast internationally, and apprenticed nearly over a dozen piercers.

In 1998, he downshifted his life from 80 piercing clients a day to a humble 20. He founded the Nomad Museum, the only museum of personal ornament in the United States. In 2003, Blake authored book; "A Brief History of the Evolution of Body Adornment in Western Culture", the first culturally/historically oriented book ever written by a piercer.

He presented the APP's esteemed Anthropology Lecture at the Las Vegas conference in 2004. There, Blake and Fakir Musafar had a book signing and release event. In 2006, Blake presented the APP's first Anthropology Lecture in Mexico City, this was an industry milestone.

In 2009, Blake completed work at The Portland Art Museum featuring his renowned exhibition of Pre-Colombian art and ornament.

In 2016, Blake presented two lectures at LBP in Tlaxcala, Mexico and also received a lifetime achievement award for his significant contributions to the art form of body piercing and representing its cultural significance.

In 2018, Nomad's celebrated its 25th anniversary, establishing at the world’s oldest owner-operated piercing studio.

In 2022, Blake presented a well attended lecture at GEP in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

In 2023, NOMAD Piercing Studio celebrated its 30th anniversary, making Blake Perlingieri, the longest practicing Piercer at the same studio continuously in America.
